The Assignment
You will focus on developing an algorithmic approach to perform random exit inspections on loaded trucks. These inspections are an essential part of our quality control and security processes. However, selecting which trucks to inspect is currently manual and not always consistent.
Your challenge? Design a smart, fair, and efficient system that determines which trucks to inspect at exit points — using a combination of randomization, business rules, and possibly real-time data. The solution must be practical, scalable, and adaptable to different scenarios.
What You’ll Do
Analyze the current inspection process
Identify key variables that could influence selection (e.g. time, type of cargo, risk profiles)
Research and design a suitable algorithm (e.g. weighted random selection, rule-based logic, etc.)
(Optionally) Develop a working prototype or decision-support tool
Present your findings and recommendations to stakeholders
